Department of Biotechnology

Year of establishment - 2004

The Department of Biotechnology was established in the year 2004 in the ground floor of " Zoology Block". The department is co-ordinated by Prof. Harbajan Singh Bali with a vision to attain excellence in education and research. Recently a permanant faculty Ms. Nazia Khurshid has joined the department. At present the department has well-equipped laboratory.This Department imparts three Year Degree Course, and it is associated with active research in the field of Molecular biology, Genetic Engineering, Microbiology, Biochemistry and Tissue Culture techniques. Facilities of the department also serve external bodies and individuals in Project Work

With the help of grants received from various funding agencies (UGC, Internal College Development, Kashmir University etc.) the department is now in a position to let its students unravel the intricacies of Biotechnological culture. While conducting research has been an important part of our academics.
