The fisheries program at the Govt. Degree College Baramulla, began in the late 1990s and administered by the Department of Fisheries, Dr. Shabana Arjumand is heading the Department who has expertise in aquaculture. This college is one of the oldest college affiliated to Kashmir university where fisheries course was started and has produced many successful students.The Fisheries Program offers a course at the undergraduate level.Students in our programs have come from whole of the Baramulla district and other parts of Valley. Faculty members in the program have research interests in phenotypic and haematological studies of fish, multi-species fisheries management, reproductive biology of various fishes and marine sanctuaries, among many others.
